CONGRESS IS PUTTING PROFIT OVER PEOPLE

Demand Medicaid Expansion for 2.2 Million People

We all know what is at stake -- the challenges facing workers and families across the country, while fires, heatwaves, and other extreme weather ravage our planet. The Biden administration's original Build Back Better package contained transformative policies that would have begun to reverse 40 years of trickle-down tax cuts and used that money to help working families afford health care, childcare, housing, and more.

But that is not the package that Congress is gearing up to pass.

Many of the policies and programs that would have supported our communities have been lost during negotiations throughout the past weeks and months. Today, I am joining faith leaders on Capitol Hill to lament the opportunities to build anew that our elected officials abandoned when they prioritized the wealthy and corporations over people and our planet.

Our work is not done. The Senate is on the brink of deciding whether they will finish the work of the Affordable Care Act by closing the Medicaid Coverage Gap or abandon that priority too.

Call Your Senators NOW: 888-436-6478!
Tell them you are disappointed in the current budget reconciliation package and urge them to close the Medicaid coverage gap.
*Dial 888-436-6478 twice to reach both of your Senators*

When you call, here's what you might say:

"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] from [YOUR TOWN]. I am deeply disappointed that Congress abandoned the Build Back Better plan that would have lowered healthcare and other costs for working families, reduced child poverty, and shifted us to a clean energy economy.

I am urging Senator [THEIR NAME] to support closing the Medicaid gap in the reconciliation package. Will the Senator expand access to health care for the 2.2 million people currently in the Medicaid coverage gap?"

We can expand access to healthcare to 2.2 million people with your help. Call your Senators today to advocate for this critical, urgent priority.

Thank you for your advocacy,
