A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOD ACTION AND RESEARCH CENTER (FRAC)

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is facing a dire threat. Annual funding bills proposed in both the House and Senate fail to provide sufficient funding to protect WIC’s projected participation level. Under both proposed bills, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that 600,000 Young Children and New Parents Could Be Turned Away Unless Congress Adheres to a 25-Year Bipartisan Commitment to Fully Fund WIC. See Food Research & Action Center’s (FRAC) fact sheet.

Congress must include additional funding (a "down payment") for WIC in the next short-term spending bill (Continuing Resolution), and fully fund it in the final fiscal year (FY) 2024 appropriations package to ensure no interruption in participation, benefits, or services, and to avoid waiting lists.

Take action today: Use the FRAC Action Network  to tell your Members of Congress to include funding in the next Continuing Resolution and to fully fund WIC in the final FY 2024 appropriations package.
