We're just a few days away from the Inthrive Film Festival coming to Van Metre Hall at Mason Square.
It's going to be an incredible Sunday afternoon (April 14) of film, art, discussion, and celebration!

This Saturday, April 13, at 5 pm, Little River United Church of Christ in Annandale is sponsoring a screening of a short film highlighting Calls from Home, a longstanding radio program that enables family members of men incarcerated in SW Virginia, very far from home, to broadcast messages of support to their loved ones in the prison. "Calls from Home" shines a light on the impact of family separation, the abolition of parole in Virginia – coupled with the imposition of very long sentences – and other harsh prison conditions that undermine rehabilitation.
After viewing the film, we'll have time for discussion with the filmmaker, Sylvia Ryerson, who was a DJ for the radio show, and Michelle Griffin, wife of William Griffin, whose story is presented in the film. A potluck meal will follow for those attending in person.
Little River United Church of Christ is located at 8410 Little River Turnpike in Annandale. Folks who can't attend in person are welcome to connect by Zoom, using the link below.
