EXPAND THE
CHILD TAX CREDIT

Between inflation and the pandemic, families are struggling to get by - the good news is we have a solution that we know works: the expanded, monthly Child Tax Credit.  

Last July, the monthly Child Tax Credit payments slashed childhood poverty by 30%, lifting 3 million children out of poverty! Inversely, 3.7 million children fell into poverty when the monthly credits ended in January. We must bring back the expanded and fully refundable monthly Child Tax Credit payments to ensure families can put food on the table and pay their bills.  

A budget is a reflection of our values, our current budget harms families by underinvesting in our people and our communities. The expanded Child Tax Credit has been a manifestation of answering the moral call to 'love one another.' We know children who grow up in poverty are more likely to experience poverty as adults. Today 1 in 7 children in the United States live in poverty. If we want a stronger economic future for our country as a whole, we need to invest in our children today.
