The Inthrive Film Festival is the first film festival to celebrate the voices and talents of men and women who have survived incarceration.

This festival is changing the narrative on what it means to survive incarceration.

The Inthrive Film Festival will be held at Richmond's First Baptist Church as the kick-off event for their Justice Film Festival at 2709 Monument Ave, Richmond, VA.

Doors open at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, and you can meet organizations working with or led by previously incarcerated folks and view artwork created by people while they were locked up or once they got out. The programming begins at Noon and continues to 5:00 p.m.

Films shown are either made by filmmakers who survived incarceration or feature the authentic voices of previously incarcerated folks. In addition, there will be spoken word poetry performed by "Breaking Free Poets," and three panels featuring survivors of incarceration that are now successful in Virginia, making films and leading the national fight to remove barriers to the formerly incarcerated.

There is no charge to attend, but donations are accepted. For more details, go to InthriveFilmFestival.org and follow @InthriveFilmFestival on Instagram and Facebook.
