Dear Faithful Citizens of Virginia ~~
2023 is an important year for civic engagement in Virginia. All 140 seats in the Virginia General Assembly are scheduled for election in November. 40 Senate seats and 100 House of Delegate seats will be filled in accordance with the outcome of the November 7 election.
Importantly, early voting in the primaries begins this week -- May 5 -- and voting continues until the June 20th election day! Justice advocates are gearing up for the work of engaging eligible Virginians to exercise their privilege to vote.
On MONDAY evening, May 15, at 7:20 pm, the NoVA Chapter of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is offering an informative Civic Engagement Spring Session on the ZOOM platform. All are invited to join us by registering here to get the zoom link.
In this approximately 1 hour Session, you will learn about the implications of the new REDISTRICTING that is now effective for all voters in Virginia. We will offer information and resources to help you and your neighbors and your faith community members to know in what districts you reside and where you will vote this year.
Furthermore, we are eager to share the plans that the Interfaith Center is developing to help Faithful Congregations engage in civic life. We need the enthusiasm and assistance that NoVA Chapter members demonstrate when justice advocates work together for a better Virginia. Robert Lester, Director of Civic Engagement for VICPP, will present his plans and recruit each of us to help with the implementation.
We hope you are available to join us. We hope you will share this invitation with your circles of family, friends, neighbors and your congregation, if appropriate. Again, here's the link to register to receive the zoom link for the program. Attached is a flier that you might post.
